People of the Kathmandu Valley

There live 2.7 million people in the Kathmandu Valley. Most of the people are poor and the income per capita is 68.545 nrs which is a little bit more than 650 euro's per year.

The original inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley are the Newars. In the last 75 years an imigration boom from villages all around Nepal made the Kathamandu Valley a regional melting pot of different people, cultures and believes.
The Newars called the Kathmandu Valley Nepa which later became Nepal and now stands for the whole country.
