Nandi devotee of Shiva - Kathmandu Valley
Nandi the cow is a big devotee and guard of Shiva.
Most of the times you can find Nandi also at or in front of a Shiva temple in
the Kathmandu Valley. Nandi told Brahma, Vishnu, Indra and the other gods to
search in Shleshmantaka Forrest which was located in the Kathmandu Valley for
the missing Shiva who was strolling the forrest in the form of a deer.
On the photo you can find one of the biggest Nandi's in the Valley. Nandi sits here in front of the Shiva Temple in Sunakothi which is said to have the Bhringishvara Lingam inside. The temple can be found on the left side of the road arround half way up to Chapagaon from Patan (the road goes very close from Satobato).
