Kathmandu Valley Rivers Polution FreeThe goverment of Nepal launched a plan on 22 of october 2009 to clean the Kathmandu Valley rivers to the level of 1959 within five years. The plan is co-funded by the Indian Goverment. One of the main rivers of the Kathmandu Valley is the holy Bagmati wich according to ancient scriptures .. and on which river banks are the most holy temple Pashipatinath. The plan to clean the river will cost 16 million Nepali rupees. Six big and 28 small water treatment plant will be installed to purify the water. During rainy season water will be collected in Sundarijal so the dirty rivers can be "flushed" during the rainy season. A method well know in old days in Belgium and Holland where dirty canals where flushed now and then. Source: |
