Balthali - Kavre - Kathmandu ValleyBalthali is a small village on a ridge, close to Panauti in the Kavre District in the east of Kathmandu Valley. Form the uper part of Balthali, you have during the potato season a of beautiful view over the mosaic like potato flower structures down in the valley. The Panauti patato that is grown in this valley, has a very good quality and is also exported to India to make chips of it. Down in the valley, the two rivers Rossi and Ladku Khola, where you can still find some working authentic water mills meet. When the wheather is clear, Balthali offers a splendid view over the Himalaya Range. Stay in Balthali Village ResortYou can spend the night in Balthali Village Resort, all the rooms have western style toilet and 24 hours hot shower. The restaurant has a nice open fire place and early in the morning you can see a great ammount of Magpies arround the resort. Balthali is a great destination to start several walks. You can make walks over ridges, pass Rodendendron Trees, Visit Tamang Villages or follow the stream of the Rossi or Ladku Khola rivers. Dulikhel, Paunati and Namo Budha lare within dag distance of Balthali, which makes it a pleasant stop in a trekking through the Kathmandu Valley. With the bus from Kathmandu to Balthali.To reach Balthali from Kathmandu with a bus you have to get on one of the many busses to Panauti from Ratnapark or Koteswar. From Panauti it is a a pleasent two hours walk through the potato fields to reach Balthali. You can make the walk much shorter by skipping the potato field and take a bus to Kohesi from Panauti. From Kohesi it is a maximum 1 hour walk up to Balthali.
