Bhaktapur - Kathmandu Valley

bhaktapur pottery squareBhaktapur also called Bhadgaon is one of the kings cities of the Kathmandu Valley and lies around 20 km eastwards of Kathmandu. A brand new four lane highway connects Bhaktapur with Kathmandu but during the peak hours it can still take you two hours to reach the city centre. Bhaktapur is famous for its Unesco World Heritage Durbar Square. Close to the Durbar Square is a pottery square where you can see thousends of pots drying in the sun. While new pots are made at edges of the square. A stay in one of the hotels in the city centre is a lovely experience and away from hussle and busle of Kathmandu. From Bhaktapur you can make side trips to the oldest temple in the Valley Changu Narayan, to south of Bhaktapur you can find the Suryabinak temple. The hillresorts Nagarkot and Dhulikhel are also close by just like nice old newari towns; Nala, Banepa and Paunati. A l litle bit further away you can find the Balthali Resort.
